VISSIM 5.30 Highlights
Modeling the parking search process
Modeling the parking search process
New criteria and strategies for dynamic routing decisions allow to realistically model vehicles searching for parking lots. Parking lots can be subsumed to groups for more efficient and comfortable modeling, using user defined routes as well as dynamic traffic assignment.

We provide more than 500 additional 3D vehicle models for your convenience. The database contains models of passenger cars, trucks, buses, trains and airplanes that can be directly imported and used in VISSIM.
Realistic lateral driving behaviour
Realistic lateral driving behaviour
New parameters have been opened to the user to realistically model weaving areas on freeways: Lane specific attributes are implemented to adequately consider the number of necessary lane changes. Cooperative merging can be activated to effectively model smooth lane changing processes.
In case of non-lane-based traffic, as it can be observed for example in India, vehicles arrange themselves in consideration of their planned routes and turning movements by proactively moving into the respective target direction. Overtaking maneuvers that would put the planned turning movement at risk are avoided.
Green time optimization in VISSIG
Green time optimization in VISSIG
VISSIM 5.30 optimizes green times at isolated intersections for fixed time control.
Through a series of simulation runs, the durations of the user defined phases are automatically adjusted with respect to the given traffic demand. The objectives are to maximize overall throughput and to minimize loss times.
Import of Synchro 7 files
Import of Synchro 7 files
With this add-on, VISSIM 5.30 supports the import of complete Synchro 7 models. An initial import option allows generating new VISSIM models based on Synchro models. Adaptive import can be used to update an existing VISSIM model based on changes conducted in Synchro, allowing to efficiently fuse changes carried out in both software packages.
VISSIM Pedestrians – Queue scenarios with partial routes
VISSIM Pedestrians – Queue scenarios with partial routes
Partial routes allow to model the two common queue types: The first is the central queue (the so called “fork-join queue”), which facilitates the first come first serve principle. The central queue can for example be found in post offices and airports. The second queue type is “immediate service point allocation”, where arriving pedestrians choose the queue that minimizes the expected minimum waiting time at the time of their arrival. This situation can often be found at supermarket checkouts.
VISSIM Pedestrians – Dynamic potential field reduces travel times
VISSIM Pedestrians – Dynamic potential field reduces travel times
The shortest route may not always be the fastest one. Pedestrians know that and accept a detour if it minimizes their expected travel times. This behavioral concept has now been implemented in our pedestrian module. “Dynamic potential fields” are used to estimate the fastest path for every pedestrian to its respective destination, so that for example slow or non-moving crowds of any size are bypassed efficiently.
